I got my first tattoo a couple days ago!
I’ve been wanting to get one for years and I kept putting it off because I didn’t know what design I wanted. It will be permanently inked on my skin so I wanted to make sure that I genuinely want what I’m getting.
I’m not posting a photo of my tattoo but I can say that it is inspired by my solo hike in Japan last February. It’s a simple linear design of a mountain and the sun that I illustrated the morning of the day I got the tattoo.
It still feels a bit absurd, waiting for years before getting inked, when it only took less than a day for me to get a tattoo I illustrated just a few hours prior. I guess this is a reminder for me not to get stuck in the planning when there’s something I really want to do.
Anyway, the inking process itself was alright. I expected it to be much more painful but it was okay. Then again, I got a small and minimal one so that might be why it didn’t hurt as much. Overall, my first tattoo experience was great — the tattoo artist as well as the people at the tattoo shop were all very nice and professional.
